Brock News has undergone a makeover for the new year, and it’s out with the old and in with the new.
SAMANTHA CRAGGS Submitted photo The Brock University newsletter recently made the transition from a print issue to an immediate and interactive news site offering current news and updates for the Brock community.
“The biggest reason was that the paper version came out every two weeks. And [the news site] was cheaper and greener because it didn’t require printing a few thousand copies a month,” says Samantha Craggs, editor of Brock News. Brock News has run as a printed newsletter for over 30 years.
Since its last issue on Jan. 13, Craggs hopes to reach a broader audience with the new website. Since December, new postings, research profiles and announcements have been added throughout the week, and other updates are expected to occur at least three times a week.
“Making a website is always fun. It’s also interesting to take a paper version of something and try to take the reasons everyone read it in the first place and translate them to a website in a way that will keep them engaged,” says Craggs.
