Is sustainability taking root at Niagara College? Photo by Andrea Dawson By ANDREA DAWSON Staff Writer Learning about the environment is as easy as going for a walk and observing the landscape in your neighbourhood. Parks and recreational trails are all great ways to enjoy the summer warmth and connect to the many natural wonders in the Niagara region.
Making green lifestyle choices means simplifying what you eat, reducing the energy and water you use and becoming familiar with the world beyond your doorstep. All are inexpensive choices that work well on a student budget. You don’t need extra money to make choices that are environmentally sustainable. Instead of buying an organic apple shipped all the way from South America, go for a regular, locally grown one instead. The Green Guide, by renowned Canadian scientist David Suzuki, is a great place to start learning about what individuals can do to live more simply and have less environmental impact. |
